Homemade Pizza

Yumminess, that's all I can say.
We've started a little Sunday night tradition at our house...and it's just so fun.
Sunday night is pizza night! We have 2 favorites that we normally rotate between, with an occasional experiment every now and again.

Pizza #1: Traditional Margarita

{Ingredients}
Cento whole peeled tomatoes in the can (for the sauce)
Fresh Mozzarella
Tomatoes
Fresh basil & lots of it!

I don't understand how those few simple things
can make such a killer combination, but watch out, it's addictively good.

Pizza #2: Rustica

{Ingredients}
Spinach
Kalamata olives
sundried tomatoes
carmelized onions
mozzarella
goat cheese

oh, just the thought is making me want some right now.
Just thought I'd share our obsession with you all:)

coffee time? anytime!

I think all the time is coffee time.
At least around our house.
Espresso.
French Press.
Drip.
You get the idea.

That wasn't always the case. I had to make myself start drinking it, because I knew it was something I would love if I could just get to that place.
It worked, thankfully. I've been a faithful coffee drinker for years now, and the stuff just never gets old. It's one of my motivators to get out of bed in the morning, and I just don't know what I'd do without it.

pain au chocolat

I used to walk through Pike's Place Market everyday on my way to school when I lived in Seattle (which sadly, feels like eons ago). Well, there was one good thing about those early, early, 6 o'clock mornings.  I passed by this amazing french bakery (everyday) called Le Panier. They would open their store front windows bright and early in the morning, and delicious aromas of fresh baked bread, croissants and pastries wafted through the air. And let me tell you, just the smell would make me go weak in the knees. their chocolate croissants were the best I've had. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about them. Well, my best friend and I would sometimes stop for a coffee and pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant) before or after school. Those times were sweet indeed.

All this to say... it's hard to find a good croissant these days.
We found one the other day, and enjoyed it whilst sipping our coffee in the sunshine.
It didn't quite compare with Le Panier's, but it was a happy substitute.

Later that night, we enjoyed the nicest evening stroll in the most perfect weather.
We also came across a fun little city find,
The Crushed Olive.
It's a lil shop that specializes in olive oils and vinegars, and oh, the varieties are just amazing. More to come on that soon!

That's all for now friends.
Check back soon:)

Happy Birthday Blue Jeans!

My husband reminded me that today is the birthday of denim, the 138th birthday
to be exact.
It all started in 1873, May 20th to be exact.
That day was the beginning of blue jeans.

These two visionary immigrants, turned denim, thread and a little metal into the most popular clothing product in the world. Waist overalls, was the traditional name for work pants, which is what these first jeans were called. The word jeans became more popular around 1960 when the baby-boom generation adopted the term for its favorite type of pants, blue jeans.

With the patent secured (20th of May 1873), Levi hired Jacob Davis to oversee production of the riveted pants at the Levi Strauss & Co. San Francisco plant. Sometime during 1873, the first riveted clothing was made and sold.

Thank you Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss for creating something we've all come to love and adore so much, denim. What would we do without our favorite pair of blue jeans?

Biltmore

Here are some photos of last week's trip to Asheville.
It was simply splendid!
Lunch outside in the warm sun and light breeze.
A trip through the Biltmore House.
& a lovely stroll through the gardens and grounds.
Hardly anyone was there at that point, so we felt like it was our very own, and we were in Pride and Prejudice or something dreamy like that.
sigh...

Well, we just got back from pampering ourselves. We got pedicures today, and it was glorious (and much needed). We stopped for a coffee on the way, and just talked and laughed the whole time through. I just love sister time.

Here's to a wonderful Monday off!
Tata for now...

Carolina Wildflowers

I live in a beautiful state. Why don't al states plant wild flowers along freeways and highways for all to enjoy?
I just don't know.

We just had to pull over and snap a few photos.

Pretty, huh? As is my beautiful sister Molly!
I just love her!
